Random Thoughts on Writing
The craft elements are like individual trees in a forest. Each one can be studied and admired alone, but all of them work together to make a viable forest.
As writers, we tend to study each crafte element in isolation, but to create story, all the elements (character, plot, POV, dialog, description, etc.) all have to be woven together at the roots to engage the reader. This is what storytelling is all about.
And the foundation on which to build story is structure–that good earth upon which a forest achieves greatness.
